Garden Bloggers' Muse Day - April 1

I have found, through years of practice,

that people garden in order to make something grow;

to interact with nature;

to share, to find sanctuary, to heal,

to honor the earth, to leave a mark.

Through gardening, we feel whole as we make

our personal work of art upon our land.

Julie Moir Messervy, The Inward Garden, 1995, p. 19

Happy Spring to Carolyn at Sweet Home and Garden Chicago and thank you for starting Garden Bloggers' Muse Day. If you would like to join in, post a poem, a quote, a riddle or anything fun relating to flowers, gardening or nature on the first of the month. Then, leave a comment on Carolyn's blog saying you've posted a muse and the rest of us will visit you. Try it, you'll like it.

NOTE: The viola photo was taken in my yard in June, 2008.

  3. I, too, liked your choice for GBMD, and the photo of the violas, one of my favorite flowers, is lovely. The color of those flowers is fantastic.

  6. Hi Donna! Thanks so much for stopping by our blog and leaving us a comment. Enjoyed your GBMD post. Hope your son does not need to get over the passes while he is in WA as the avalanche danger has been forcing closures for control work. I lived in Madison while doing grad work at the university. WI is definitely a state that knows how to deal with snow.

  7. Hi Donna, I thought I'd come over and say hi! I love your 'muse day' post--and your johnny jump up, or little violas (not sure!) are very sweet;-) I actually have some too, one is predominantly purple, w/yellow on it; the other is predominantly yellow, with some purple on it. I really should post some photos, I'm just lazy and don't even post 95% of the photos I take;-( I could have a million blog posts by now--so many varied subjects come up, but it is so darn 'time consuming'!! Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful SPRING;-)
