This field is close to the library that I visit and I keep wondering why the cabbage was never picked.
I had to go in search for a poem about cabbage and found more of them than I imagined possible. This short, silly poem seemed perfect. It will never be confused with the other great poems found on Garden Bloggers' Muse Day, but still it's fun.
LOVE IS LIKE A CABBAGE
My love is like a cabbage
Divided into two,
The leaves I give to others,
The heart I give to you.

A fun poem, Donna! Now I'm going to spend the rest of the day wondering, too, why this cabbage was never picked:) Here in Illinois--and I'm sure in Wisconsin as well--a lot of the corn was not harvested until late because of the wet fall. Maybe it was too wet to pick the cabbage and then a freeze hit. Maybe they're hoping it will turn into sauerkraut:)
ReplyDeleteHow cute!
ReplyDeleteWow, Donna, what a waste. Is the cabbage as well preserved as it looks?
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in Muse Day with your cabbage-inspired poem.
That is very sad that those cabbages were never harvested. If you find out let us know. The poem is very cute.
ReplyDeleteLove it, Donna, and will tuck this poem away for Valentine's Day! Happy February and Muse Day :)
ReplyDeleteI'd never seen a cabbage patch ... great little poem, too
ReplyDeleteI agree...how sad that all those cabbages were wasted. Makes for a very interesting photo.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is adorable. I tend to like simplier poems anyways. One's with deep meanings are usually lost on me.
I initially thought this picture was little divets on the moon...guess i NEED new glasses. Cute!
ReplyDeleteFascinating photos! Little bumps in the snow~ Donna, this is such a fun Muse Day! The poem made me smile and smile! gail
ReplyDeleteI really like that poem, very cute!
ReplyDeleteWas it too wet perhaps to harvest the cabbage? Those are beautiful pictures with them in the snowy field.
Hi Donna -- Of course I'm not a garden blogger, but this is a great post on an interesting theme. Just admiring other peoples' gardens often gives me cause to muse! We always wonder about those unpicked fields (not always cabbage) and we see them everywhere. Why would anyone go to all that work and then just abandon it? At least they give us something to talk to each other about when we're on the road ;>)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute poem. That's pretty interesting to see all that cabbage just sitting there in the snow, there's so much of it!
ReplyDeleteSweet poem! And what is up with all the cabbages left in the field. I hope you see someone to ask come spring. Very curious...
ReplyDeleteI have never seen so many heads of cabbage, and what a shame. All of the cabbage rolls that went unmade and uneaten....all of the slaw....
ReplyDeleteThe poem is wonderful!
cabbage in abundance... majestic view and lovely poem. ~bangchik
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun poem - and great shots of cabbage. Another creative post!
ReplyDeleteThank you Donna.
Okay, now I'm dying to know why the cabbage was never picked! Perhaps it tastes sweeter if left to "chill"?
ReplyDeleteHi Donna, first, thank you for stopping by several times in the past few wks and months when I have been an 'absent' commenter! I'm trying to do better now;-) Isn't that cabbage-filled field interesting! I wonder what the story is there and why they were all left to rot? Hmm, maybe you can do some investigating and find out! Your choice of poem is perfect and a bright spot because we all need a smile and the poem is heartfelt about sharing with others, and love. I hope you are getting through these Feb. days by thinking happy thoughts about spring! That's the time we all look forward to so we can get our hands into the ground, and see those green shoots and stalks coming up out of the ground. Oh that will be wonderful, won't it?!

ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I've never encountered a poem about a cabbage before. And the loving pair of cabbages in the last shot is priceless (as well as looking very good to eat).
ReplyDeleteA cabbage poem.. how cute and unique I don't get whats going on with the unpicked cabbage.. maybe someone had to much of it!
ReplyDeleteYea Donna why wasn't it picked?
ReplyDeleteIt looks rather funny all the round shapes in the snow...
Super little poem you've found to acomplish it with.
I've never seen a cabbage patch either...is that where the cabbage patch dolls live? (I know...how original!)
ReplyDeleteThe poem though, is just too cute...sounds like a perfect poem for a Valentine's day card.....hmmmm...I feel a craft coming on!
(You may not believe it, but the "word verification" I have to print for this is "habie...as in habie the cabbie"
((Okay, too much funny green stuff in my tea this morning))
Look at all that cabbage! I wonder, too, why it was not harvested. At first, I thought the snow was sand, then realized it wasn't. You found a cute poem to go with your photos. I keep thinking I'd like to participate in muse day, but have been too scatterbrained so far.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your encouraging comments on my kitchen posts.
Hi, Donna!
