Try To Remember.....

"Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh so mellow
Try to remember that kind of September
When grass was green and grain so yellow....

A September day at Kimberly's Point with my mother.
Bless her!

Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a young and callow fellow
Try to remember and if you remember
Then follow--follow, oh-oh."
Try to Remember, Lyrics by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt

A random fellow at Riverside Park.
He used his wheelchair to reach the water.
Bless him!

  1. So so tender and sweet, my friend. I don't know that we ever get used to seeing our mothers sitting alone. Bless her, and bless her sweet sweet daughter. Something about fall makes everything seem so dear.

  9. September is one of my favorite months, with perfect blue sky days and perfect temps. But we've been cloudy and cool all week, darn it!

  10. What a lovely place to visit with your mother, Donna. I hope the two of you enjoyed your time together and were able to share some special memories. It's good to see your Mom's smile.

In the midst of all the sad memories yesterday and the different ceremonies of remembrance, I couldn't help but also feel some pride--pride that America has moved on and that tragedy can unite us as fellow Americans, no matter our differences.

  23. Hi Donna,
I came here to see if it's Philip or Phillip because I was writing a follow up comment to you from my grandson blog. I think I got sidetracked and didn't get it sent. I was going to comment on how big Philip is getting.

I see your blog is still on my desktop. I enjoyed your post with your mother, water, and the lyrics to "Remember".

I read my blog post to our grandson, and he didn't like it that I called him by his initials. I showed him your grandson's blog, and he kept asking what a coo coo kid was. He was saying it like when one says, "coo coo bird". It was pretty funny.

  24. Wonderful words today. I used that same song in college for a repeat refrain in a long poem I wrote. Wish I could figure out where I put it now that you have brought it back to mind. Have to start looking. Jack
