Wild turkeys are native to most of Wisconsin and very abundant in our neighborhood. I put some of my turkey photos from the last few months into a Smilebox slideshow. It's my way of wishing all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. As Erma Bombeck used to say, "Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not a coincidence."
I have never seen a wild turkey "in person", in fact, until a few weeks ago I had never seen any live turkey "in person". Not sure if your Thanksgiving was last weekned or this weekend, but, pass the cranberry sauce!
That was so cute Donna. Nice pictures and a great format for them. We have wild turkeys near here (we're in Oregon) but not that many! And I haven't been able to get a picture this year.
I hadn't heard of Smile Box and now I have to go back to your slide show and click on the link so I can learn.
Thank you for posting this and a Very Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
Are those turkeys hiding on the roof so they don't become someone's dinner? :) How cool to see them like that. It seems to take longer to cleanup from Thanksgiving dinner than it does to eat it.
I love that smilebox! I haven't used that in a while. Does your computer bog down when you run it? Mine got really slow. Happy Thanksgiving, Donna! I am thankful for blogging friends like you.
Oh my goodness!!! You have whole darn flocks of them passing through!!! How neat is that? I wish!!! Your Smilebox was really awesome...and so fun to see the birds just everywhere!!!!
Hope your Thanksgiving is really wonderful, Donna! We are actually making a chicken this year...my husbands lucky year as he hates turkey!!!
I loved Erma Bombeck! Every year I say much the same thing, though not quite as witty:) Just as I finally sit down to eat the meal I have taken a day and a half to prepare, half of my family has already cleaned their plates.
Enjoyed the slideshow--hope these turkeys have been in hiding this past week:) Wishing you and your family a healthy and happy Thanksgiving, Donna!
Great pictures Donna! They are magnificent birds. We used to see flocks of turkey when we lived in western PA (not very close up though). They're not here in our creek valley, unfortunately. Maybe it's too brushy for them.
How cute, Donna. Recectly prepared my first wild turkey ... awesome! Just arrived at the lake where wild turkeys rule ... we are on the 'turkey trot' and often see as many as 50 in the yard :)
Nice show! We have lots of them in our area of Bluff Country too. As a matter of fact about a dozen paraded in a file up our blacktop road last week. Really! P.S. I do miss Erma B. She had the kind of humor I just loved.
I see wild turkeys in the nearby fields fairly often, but not closeup like yours! Thanks for the sympathy wishes. As a matter of fact, we did have some happy memories and laughs this past week while we remembered my FIL.
Beautiful slideshow. I enjoyed all your beautiful photos. I have never seen wild turkey. My father in the Philippines raised turkeys but not anymore now.
Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments. I really appreciate it. Hope you have a lovely weekend.
